  • I love my Pastor for his unwavering faith in Christ. He has devoted the last 27 years to the Hampton Roads area and even though there have been many heart wrenching battles in our ministry, he has never given up or walked away from the path that Christ has lead him down. I am blessed to walk with him in faith until we see our father return.

  • Pastor John is the best. He has served our church for a long time and has been faithful to God even longer. He is my mentor and friend and I look forward to serving the Lord together for many years. Keep the Faith Preacher!

  • Pastor, You are a great example of a “Pastor” who watches over his “pasture”. We will continue to follow you as you follow Christ. Thank you for your selfless labor of love. We are so grateful to be a part of this blessed flock because God’s hand is truly in command! Tammy & John Waters & Family

  • Thank you Pastor for being steadfast in the Word of God. You stand like Daniel stood, praying and interceding for your flock three times a day, you don’t bow down to anything that comes against the Word of God. Not only do you answer anytime of the day or night when New Hope calls but you answer for anyone in the community. The prayer of the New Hope Church Family is to be a “Barnabas” to our Pastor, to encourage, edify, and uplift our Pastor. Pastors have the best chance of anyone to make a difference in the world, and our Pastor certainly takes the greatest advantage of this. Today, May 20, 2007, we are celebrating 18 years under our Pastor’s leadership and we look forward to 18 more with great expectations.

  •  A brief statement seems an impossability, I could write a book about my Pastors. I have been under their pastorship for 40 years (I came to this church when I was 17 yrs old). I have been here for all these years because I have seen the faithfulness of these Pastors and the example they live before us. Both of my pastors have had cancer (both have been healed, praise the Lord). Through it all I have seen them lift up Jesus, and use their own pain to teach the church how to walk with and trust God in the seemingly impossiable. Simple words cannot convey their value, I am blessed to know them. Pastor Tim has the gifting of a prophet (also a evangelist, teacher) and sin is quickly exposed in his presence. He teaches us that we must take the “mask” off and get real with ourselves and with God. Pastor Rhonda has the much needed gift of mercy (among many other gifts) and after the prophet has dealt with the sin she comes in with the sweet spirit of mercy and pours in the oil so we can heal. The “best church” is the church where God planted you and I am so thankful to be planted under these Pastors. Bro. Tim and Sis. Rhonda: I APPRECIATE YOU AND LOVE YOU DEARLY!!!!!

  • Rev. Jay Cochenour, is an inspiration to me. His messages from the Lord come from a meek and humble man. He is not prideful or boastful in his knowledge of the Scripture and does not push you or try to convince or sway you to his opinion. He tells the Bible for what it is, and is willing to hear what the congregation has to say in matters where they can control. He is sweet and loving and not above reproach. He is willing to sit down and discuss matters that mean the most to you, willing to listen when you need to talk things off, and also willing to converse about the Scripture, but he does not debate about the Scripture.

He loves the Bible, doesn’t like to talk anything else but the bible. He loves to have fun, play games, watch movies. He also loves to sing. He sings well if I might say so. He plays the piano very well, and I love to hear him play.

Jacob Cochenour, I love you so much, you are such an inspiration to me and our wonderful little family.

  • Our Pastor is faced with much adversity and many trials as he leads our church in faithfulness to the Lord. He has had many obstacles to overcome since the Lord led him to Shiloh. He always has a positive attitude towards the ministry and our church. I praise the Lord for our pastor and for everything he has done for my family and me. Brother Earl I love you and appreciate you from the bottom of my heart.

  • Although we are a small and new congregation of 25, Pastor WC is faithfully committed to helping in every possible area and where required. Between leading bible study, prayer and a full time job, pastor WC finds time to paint, fix walls and organize workdays. It is great to see the leader of a church lead by example.

    Pastor WC, I love you!

  • I may have many instructors, but not many fathers. You are that father that I have. I appreciate you now and forever. Without you, I may not have known Jesus – the best gift of all. After Jesus, the next gift is you, and you are perfecting me for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body.

  • My Pastor should be chosen Pastor of the Month for his endurance and fidelity to his ministry, family and church. He has been with us almost five years and this year was a very turbulent one, but God gave him strength and he endured with a cheerful heart. We are in victory. I love my Pastor because he has encouraged me to grow in Christ, he loves his family, church and community. He is very warm and loving. We just celebrated Pastor Appreciation Day on October 28 and he deserves much more. I hope all leaders and members learn to honor the Man of God that was chosen for their church. Sometimes this is hard because we don’t want to submit. However, with unity and love amongst ourselves we can be an example to the lost souls and defeat the enemy. In Christ We All Win!

  • Pastor Abel Robles

    Pastor Abel Robles

Over 20 years ago, Pastor Abel Robles transformed a former Holiday Inn building into Calvary Temple Worship Center, where all are welcomed. Pastor’s dedication and faithfulness is legendary in our church. After receiving a kidney transplant, he missed only ONE Sunday, preaching from the pulpit in a wheelchair during his recovery. Our congregation recently celebrated his 33 years in the ministry with a community banquet. His unique, often amusing, interpretations of the Scriptures make for some memorable sermons as he makes Biblcal characters come to life for his congregation. Thanks, Pastor!
